7/8/2023 0 Comments Plex media server on synology![]() If I use a NAS, where should I install my Plex server? My 256 gb internal ssd? My 1 tb internal hdd? An external 1 tb ssd (I have one extra not in use)? What would be the best option for speed, and to not interfere with bogging my PC down if I’m gaming and someone in my house is streaming? However does my set up seem fine for direct play, as well as transcoding, multiple users, and gaming simultaneously? I’d like something around 30-50 TB and expandable, and also something where I can lose a drive but not lose my data.ĭoes this setup sound alright, or should I do it a different way? Plex on PC. Im thinking to use a synology NAS as my storage. A 1 tb hdd is obviously not a great storage option as it’s small as hell and I can barely hold more than a few movies at a time when things like LOTR 4K rip is nearly 450 gb. I stream via Plex from my PC’s 1 tb hdd to an LG CX with Nvidia Shield Pro. Specs are Titan X Pascal GPU, i7-6700K CPU 4 ghz, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD. My PC is a few years old gaming rig I built (still my only desktop and use it as my main PC for gaming). ![]() Hoping I could ask some questions and see if my setup sounds like a decent plan to you all. ![]() I’m looking to use my PC as a Plex server and a NAS for storage.
